Adoption website for rescued Maremma dogs
About the project
I built a website for Maremma Rescue Nederland. The foundation rescued neglected and abandoned Maremma dogs from Italy and found them new homes in the Netherlands.
It all came down to trust. Visitors needed to get to know a dog a little before reaching out, and the foundation needed to keep the site up to date without calling a developer every time.

- Adoption requests straight from each dog page
- An admin area the foundation could run themselves
The challenge
A photo and a few facts are not enough to base an adoption on. The foundation also did not want to call a developer for every new dog or photo. Visitors needed clarity. Volunteers needed something workable.
The solution
I built the site around full dog pages, with a gallery, a personal story and the basics. From that page, you could show interest or start an adoption request right away.
How I approached it
Three parts did the heavy lifting.
Getting to know the dogs
Each dog had its own page with photos, story, age, gender, and neuter status. At the bottom were suggestions for other dogs.
Adoption without friction
Interest or a request starts from the dog page. With just two buttons, you can send a request to adopt a dog, quick and simple.
Keeping it current
The foundation added dogs, uploaded photos and edited texts themselves. Everything stayed current without pulling me in.
Offline, but not without results
Sadly the foundation stopped. That is why I took the website offline. A shame, because I really enjoyed working on it.
The best outcome still stands: thanks to this site, several Maremmas found a new home in the Netherlands.
