Hi, I am Matilda Smets, the founder and owner of Tilto. I started this company when I was fifteen. I am now nineteen. My interest in technology started with gaming, which introduced me to computers and other devices. When I was younger I often used programs like Word and PowerPoint, which helped me learn how to create and design documents. Later I became interested in building websites using platforms like Wix and Jouwweb. After some time I noticed that these platforms had many limits, which made me want to learn better ways to build websites.

When I was thirteen I discovered programming. This opened a lot of new opportunities for me. I started building websites and slowly got better at it. In April 2022 I decided to start my own business so I could take this more seriously. At first it was difficult to find clients, even though I already had a website. I realized I still had a lot to learn about running a business.

After that I learned about the Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands, also known as KVK. I wanted to officially register my company, so I started that process. In June 2022, when I was fifteen, I successfully registered my business. Since then I have built many websites and continued improving my skills.

Right now I study HBO ICT part time at Fontys in Eindhoven. Before that I completed the Software Developer MBO program at Gilde Opleidingen in Venray. At the same time I continue working on my business and I hope to help others with my work in the future.
